35 weeks....

I am now in 35th week pregnancy…next week, I am 9 months pregnant and feeling so heavy and could not walk for long..can feel pain on my heel when I walk…most people judge the way I am now and looking at my big bulgy belly..they told me that I might labor earlier than supposedly due date….gosh..am I mentally prepared for that?? Hopefully I am…can’t wait to see my lil’ bum out from my belly!!! Always imagining myself cradling my lil' baby..
I have a bad stretch mark on my below belly button and in addition of that, I got bad nasty itchy bump on my stretch mark....it looks like rashes, mosquito bites or lots of tiny bumps to me...so unbearable..I have used all kind of oil and cream but still itchy.. I’ve used Pureen’s stretch mark cream, cocoa butter + aloe cream, Bio-Oil, calamine lotion and antiseptic powder..but all that are only temporary solution..not long apply that, come back the itchiness..i have done my research on the internet..I think I might got this….
Is it normal to feel itchy during pregnancy?
It's not uncommon to feel itchy, particularly around your growing belly and breasts as your skin stretches to accommodate them. Hormonal changes may also be partly to blame.

Some pregnant women find that their palms and the soles of their feet get red and sometimes itchy. This common condition may be caused by an increase in estrogen. It usually disappears right after delivery.

You may also find that things that normally make you itchy — dry skin, eczema, food allergies — make you even itchier when you're pregnant. Finally, there are certain conditions that occur during pregnancy that may cause you to feel itchy (see below).
How can I get relief from the itching?
Avoid hot showers and baths, which can dry out your skin and make the itching worse. Use mild soap and be sure to rinse it off well and towel off lightly. Then slather on an unscented moisturizer — some scents can cause irritation.

Try an occasional warm oatmeal bath. (You can buy oatmeal bath preparations in drugstores.) Wear loose cotton clothing and avoid going out in the heat of the day, since heat can intensify the itching.
Is it common to get itchy bumps on your abdomen?
Up to 1 percent of pregnant women develop a condition characterized by itchy, red bumps and larger patches of a hive-like rash on their bellies. This is called pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy (PUPPP) or polymorphic eruption of pregnancy.

PUPPP usually begins in the third trimester and is more common among women carrying twins and those having their first baby. The eruptions usually show up first on the abdomen around or in stretch marks (if you have any) and may spread to your thighs, buttocks, and arms. PUPPP is harmless for you and your baby, but it can itch like crazy!

Your doctor or midwife will want to see you for a diagnosis and will probably prescribe a topical ointment to give you some relief. She may also recommend an antihistamine. In severe cases, you may need a course of oral steroids.

PUPPP usually disappears within a few days after delivery, although it sometimes persists for several weeks. (In rare cases, it may even begin after you give birth.) Fortunately, it seldom appears again in subsequent pregnancies.

Even more rare than PUPPP is a skin condition called prurigo of pregnancy (or papular eruptions of pregnancy), which is characterized by many tiny bumps that may look like bug bites. These eruptions can occur anywhere on your body, but you're most likely to get them on your hands, feet, arms, and legs.

Although the eruptions can be itchy and annoying, prurigo of pregnancy appears to pose no risk to your baby. This condition generally starts around the beginning of the third trimester and may last for up to three months after you give birth.

In very rare cases, a pregnant woman will develop very itchy eruptions that start out like hives and then turn into large blistering lesions. This rash is called pemphigoid gestationis (or herpes gestationis, although it has nothing to do with herpes virus). The eruptions often start on the abdomen and spread to the arms and legs.

This condition is considered more serious than PUPPP because it may be associated with an increased risk for
preterm delivery and fetal growth problems. It usually begins in the second or third trimester, but it can start anytime — even in the first week or two after you have your baby.

Pemphigoid gestationis can come and go throughout pregnancy, and it often flares up after delivery as well. It usually happens again in subsequent pregnancies and tends to be more severe.

Let your caregiver know if you develop any kind of rash during pregnancy. Whether or not the rash is related to your pregnancy, it's a good idea to have your caregiver evaluate it and recommend appropriate treatment or refer you to a dermatologist.
Can intense itching ever be a sign that something is wrong?
Severe itchiness in the second or, more commonly, in the third trimester can be a sign of intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy, a liver problem that affects less than 1 percent of pregnant women in the United States.

When bile doesn't flow normally in the small ducts of your liver, bile salts accumulate in your skin and make you itch all over. The itching can be quite intense. The condition itself doesn't cause a rash, but you may end up with red, irritated skin with little cuts in areas where you're scratching a lot.

Call your doctor or midwife immediately if you think you have cholestasis because it may spell trouble for your baby. Your caregiver will do blood tests to check your liver as well as ultrasounds and fetal heart monitoring to check on your baby.

Depending on your health and your baby's condition, you may be induced before your due date. This problem goes away after you have your baby, although you may get it again with your next pregnancy.

So, it kinda relieves me..not me alone suffer from this but be glad and blessed to have this pregnancy..Lord, make me enjoy this pregnancy and shut me up from complaining….  But I hope that I won’t get any serious condition like liver problem or eczema..and not harmful to the baby..put my fingers crossed.. x ..

p/s: embarrass to put up my stretch mark belly photo in this blog.. *shy mode ;-)

Last week, I called Rowena, my friend, to bring me to her favorite saloon... I really wanted to get rid my long hair as the weather getting humid and I can't stand with sweaty, oily and itchy scalp during the pregnancy..And also, preparation during confinement time too..because according to our custom, after giving birth, are not allowed to wash hair for a certain period..

so, last weekend, we manage to go the saloon and I want to have a real short haircut this time..this is a major change for me to get a short one (not counting my tomboy haircut when I was 16 yrs old, LOL)..so, i 'googled' and I wanna have this 'Victoria Beckham hairstyle' or bob hairstyle..

I told the professional hairstylist what I want and she pleasantly said OK, no problem!!.. am getting excited...and this is how I look after the haircut..

28 weeks 3 days / 7 months Pregnant

This week, am officially in 3rd trimester which is 28 weeks or 7 months pregnant!!! I am in final stage before getting labour…getting more and more anxious and nervous at the same time..
Lately, I always have this lightheaded/dizzy feeling...the moment I laid down, I could feel as if I was on the air...a lil bit worried..so, I asked my mom to check my blood pressure (BP) but my BP is OK..went to Jawa Clinic to check..the nurse too check my BP, hemoglobin and urine but result turned normal..the doctor told me that it could be angin dalam badan or low sugar level in my body..But I forgot to check my blood sugar during that time..will check my blood sugar if I have this lightheadness again..
Yesterday, we went for 3D/4D ultrasound scan at Normah..So nice could see our lil bum in 3D version..but too bad the umbilical cord was right in front of the face..and baby position is not facing my tummy..so the ultrasound are not that clear enough to see the face…but at least can see the face features..so nice…will share the ultrasound sooner…I have to scan it and crop it for you all to view..Just wait, yeah.. ;-)
p/s: 3D/4D ultrasound scan is at RM150/- but gynae gave 30% discount from the amount.. (for my reference only)

Detailed Scan at 5 Months Pregnancy

We did detailed scan which means gynae will do ultrasound checkup from baby's head to toe. Gynae suggested to do it when I am in my 5 months pregnancy..the best part is she gave us the detailed scan in movie format and burn it into a dvd..Cool!! it is about 15-20 minutes show..but then, the one I uploaded in here just a 5 minutes show..I have to trim it and only show the best part among all.. Enjoy watching and share the joy moment with us.. ;-)

p/s: Detailed scan at Normah is only RM150/- (for my reference only)..

5 Months Pregnancy Album

All the pictures were taken by my brother, Kailash, who is interested in photography..When he got back home for holiday, he make sure that he will take my pregnancy pictures..so, one day, Trey and I managed to take the shots after work hours. That's why my face looked a little greasy and less makeup...Oh yeah, all the photos taken at Musuem Garden, Kuching...Trey chose these place because of the greens and many places to shot. I love it because not many people during that time and I am not shy to show off my bump in public place!!! haahaaha...anyway, this is my 5 months pregnancy photos.. Thank you, bro for taking our moments with our lil bum ;-)

April - June Updates

It has been a long, long time I did not update my blog..
So far, I am doing fine and pregnancy going well too... This week is my 26 weeks (6 months) pregnancy in 2nd Trimester..
However, in my 4 months pregnancy checkup at Jawa govt clinic, I have asked to do Glucose Tolerance Test (GTT) to check my blood sugar level. Unfortunately, after 2 hours result, I was diagnosed with 8.3 mg/mmol. It means that my blood sugar slightly high and have gestational diabetes.. Hmm…my doctor have already expected with this result as I have PCOS in me and obese.  Govt doctor informed me that I need to go for blood sugar checkup every 2 weeks at the hospital, from 8 am till 10pm… Checkup pre-meal and after meal..I only manage to go to hospital for 2 times checkup..After that, I bought my own glucometer for self-checkup at home.. It is easier, less tiring, can do house chores and eating home cooked food. Anyway, so far blood sugar constantly stable but hope not increasing towards 3rd trimester..LOL!!!
My appetite is increasing in the 2nd trimester but sometimes still a bit picky when eating home cooked food. Towards the end of 2nd trimester, I am prone to get sleepy especially during office hours. I just can take a cat nap with head looking at the PC screen..then, have mild migraine after that.
My weight increase 2 kgs from May checkup till June checkup. The highest kgs I got so far during this pregnancy.
Hhmm..what else to write, huh?? Too many things happening till forgot what has been happening during this 2 -3 months…
Hahaha…ne way, I just want to tell you all that I am doing fine.. my lil’ bum too doing fine and kicking well in my tummy.. hahaha…
Have a great day ahead! Hopefully, From now on, I will update my blog from time to time..

1st visit to Klinik Gita and 1st Maternity Dress

March 14, 2011 ( Monday )
In the morning, I went to Klinik Ibu dan Kanak-kanak Gita, Matang and register for the first time. I need to go there as I plan to give birth at the government hospital. Giving birth at the private hospital will cost more than I could afford for. Went there at 8am but my turn was almost 10am. Luckily I took 2 pieces of bananas to fill up my stomach. The nurse took my weight (78kg, still maintain..hehe..), check my urine and blood. She also did breast checking as well to check whether there is any lump or not.
The nurse booked another appointment on March 21 at the Jawa clinic as I need to see doctor there for checkup. My mom brought me lunch at Singapore Chicken Rice, Rubber Road and reached office at 11.30am.
Not long after that, around 12.15pm, Pn. Wira, my boss, invite me going out with her for lunch at the Hills. We went there because we had function to attend at the Pullman Hotel.  Perhimpunan Awam bersama Dato’ Ketua Pengarah Perkhidmatan Awam and State Secretary. Many civil servants attended this function.  Finished at 4pm and had high tea there.  While waiting for Trey to fetch me, I met Ms Song, Norisma and Sopi (my ex-colleagues) there. We went down to the Hills Shopping mall and Ms Song is so kind and willingly to accompany me while waiting for Trey. We ended up at the Station One cafĂ© and I had cold white coffee latte with vanilla. I should have taken the photo of my drink. It is so yummy. Loving it..We had a nice long chit-chat there. She left at 5.20pm and Trey had not arrived yet. So, I roaming around the shopping mall.
While walking, I saw one shop (Faby Outlet) selling maternity clothings (selling rejected Crocs shoes and also kids clothings) and I went in to have a look. Belek punya belek, tengok punya tengok, I admire one short dress and I tried. When I tried, I already falling in love with this dress and feeling so cute and adorable…(shiok sendiri..hahaha) At the first place, I don’t plan to get any maternity clothing yet till after 3 months and I have been telling everybody that I would not buy because it is still too early and don’t want to get too excited buying all that first. But my tummy is getting bigger and bigger so fast until most my office wear cannot fit me anymore.. Finally, I got one and cost me RM 59.90....

Pregnancy Symptoms - Week 9

The main pregnancy symptom that I had was EXTREME FATIGUE. Even though sleep early but still very sleepy on the next day..After work, I can just dozed off in the car..

Last Friday (4/03/2011) was the worst..Reached home, took early dinner and shower..after shower, I terus got to sleep till 11pm waken up by Trey who came in to sleep..then at 11.30pm, sleep again…on the next day, woke up a while to do coffee for Trey and back to sleep again till 9.30am..wow..really feeling tired…

Oh yeah, I almost forgotten, I had sciatica during pregnancy as well…when I get up from the chair or wake up from bed..wow..really can feel pain from my buttock to my hip...I could feel the sharp pain on my left leg when I walk...It still hurt but can still bearable..Sometimes I ask Trey to massage my left leg just to relieve the pain a lil' bit..

I still have other symptoms like other weeks as well…
I think I put on weight this week.. lots of makan-makan event happening this week..but hope not that drastic otherwise doctor will scold me.. hahah…
Though lots of makan-makan but still at night, lose appetite but hungry..

my lil' bum is getting bigger.. :-) my tummy bulging a lil bit but no cramp or pain occured.. :-)

p/s: more info at http://www.babycenter.com.my/stages/0109/

What is sciatica?

The sciatic nerve is a large nerve which comes from your lower back and travels down the back of your legs and then branches out to your feet. It allows you to feel sensations and move muscles in your legs. Sciatica is where inflammation or pressure from the back causes the sciatic nerve to become painful. Sometimes, the function of the nerve can become impaired resulting in weakness or pins and needles. Sciatica can be present with or without backache and can send pain down the back of your leg.

Pregnancy Symptoms - Week 8

Hmm.. still the same symptoms occurred during week 3 – week 7 but my tummy less gassy,  less nausea. I am still feeling tired whole day but I am just doing fine.
Sometimes, I don’t feel pregnant at all even though my tummy look more bulgy than before. Maybe because of the less cramp and feel tightening occurred.  I guess already have enough space for my lil’ bum inside to move...hahaha..
I still don’t have good appetite to eat especially at night. I hardly eat rice with vegetables and soups which I like to eat. Usually after work, will ask Trey to bring me to any kopitiam and have some noodles before I lose my appetite.
Anyway, I am still doing fine and great. J

We are OK

I've seen my gynae doc this morning..She scanned and see my lil' bum inside..and also see lil' bum's movement as well..so cute.. I just want to tell you that everything is fine and no complication happens after the fall yesterday. We are just doing great and fine. :-)

Thank you, Lord for the protection upon my lil’ bum inside. Amen..
